Release notes

What’s new.

A plain-language summary of every release.

A new foundation

Version 0.25.0 ·

Groundwork for the realm's next chapter: a new server foundation under the game.

  • The live updates in the game's header (incoming attacks, new messages and reports) now come through the realm's new server foundation.
  • Secure sign-in for the new game screens that are on their way: your session stays as it is.

Housekeeping after the engine update

Version 0.24.2 ·

Nothing changes in play: this release brings the game's own checks and records up to date.

  • The automatic checks that guard the flag and bonus rules run again on every change.
  • The note for 0.24.1 now says how long letters really waited: about half an hour.

Letters and alerts on time again

Version 0.24.1 ·

A quick fix after the engine update.

  • For about half an hour after the update, the game held back its outgoing letters and notifications; they were kept and went out once the fix arrived.

The newest engine

Version 0.24.0 ·

The game moves to the newest version of the language it is written in, with the same game on top.

  • The game runs on PHP 8.5, supported with security fixes until the end of 2029.
  • An achievements tab with nothing in it no longer shows a count of (0).
  • The rally point's target field stays empty after an attack sent without coordinates, instead of showing 0|0.

Steadier background work

Version 0.23.1 ·

A small release that keeps the game's background tasks running reliably.

  • The game's scheduled checks and its mail and notification sender no longer stop when they start at the same moment as a server update; they wait a few seconds and carry on.

A faster engine

Version 0.23.0 ·

The game now runs on a newer, faster version of the language it is written in. Nothing about how you play changes; pages answer sooner and the game is ready for what comes next.

  • The game server moved to PHP 8.4: every screen, the battles and the background clock run on it, checked against the old engine to give the same results.
  • Editing your profile works again when you have no profile picture yet.

The living village

Version 0.22.0 ·

Your village is always the living scene now, the game runs on a rebuilt server, and a handful of fixes make windows, the map and quests behave.

  • The village overview is always the living village scene: the classic picture and the switch between the two are gone. The setting that shows building levels stays.
  • Quest arrows on the overview point at the building's badge in the village, or at the building itself.
  • The game runs on a rebuilt server: every part of it was reorganised behind the scenes, so new features can arrive faster and more safely.
  • The game and the website now run twice over, with more room each, so a busy moment no longer takes them down.
  • Cancelling a research or recruitment order at the moment it finishes now tells you why it cannot be cancelled.
  • Dismissing troops never moves their departure to the present by mistake.
  • The filters at the top of a window run from side to side again and stay inside the window.
  • Dragging the map keeps your village's mark, and the arrow keys no longer move the map under an open window.

A tribe for everyone

Version 0.21.0 ·

Finding a tribe is easier, the top bar says more at a glance, and new players start where they chose.

  • The Tribe page for players without a tribe is new: the tribes around you with their emblem, level and status, Apply right on the page, and your invitations on their own tab.
  • Every count on the top bar is now a red seal in a gold rim; the quest button shows a new quest and your waiting building rewards side by side.
  • A new player starts in the part of the map they chose: north and south were swapped.
  • The beginner protection banner no longer sits over every page; the protection widget on your village overview still shows when it ends.
  • The world's code letter shows its Royal Seals reward properly again.

Your own daily bonus

Version 0.20.0 ·

The daily login bonus now counts your days, building rewards are worth claiming, and invitations read right.

  • The daily login bonus runs on your own 21 days: your first day in a realm is day 1, and the next gold chest counts the visits it still needs.
  • Every new building level pays back half its cost in resources, at least 150 of each, in the Rewards tab.
  • Using an item from your Inventory asks first in a clear confirmation that lists what it does.
  • The quest arrow no longer points at a building you cannot afford yet; the quest says when the resources arrive.
  • The closed beta invitation greets you by name, and its writ and account page are easier to read.

The Treasury is open

Version 0.19.0 ·

Royal Seals can now be bought by every player.

  • Open the Treasury, choose a package of Royal Seals and pay on Stripe's secure page: the Seals reach your account at once, larger packages with bonus Seals.

Letters worth opening

Version 0.18.0 ·

Every letter from Kaldmarch is painted now, and the way into a realm is quicker.

  • Every letter opens on a painted scene that says what it is about: the Roll for your application, the gate for your invitation, the scriptorium for codes and passwords.
  • Letters are written on parchment, open with an illuminated first letter and end with an invitation to the Kaldmarch Discord.
  • The map is ready the moment you arrive: the gatehouse brings the season's map art with it, by day and by night.
  • Applying for the closed beta no longer stops at a Cloudflare check between the homepage and the form.
  • Titles in letters sent before the new charters show their picture again.

A new home for Kaldmarch

Version 0.17.0 ·

The website has a new look from the first gate to the game itself, and a home for the community.

  • A new homepage: the gates open on your arrival, then the Founder’s Pack, real screens from the realm and what remains of a reign.
  • Every page of the site, the emails and the loading screen into the game now share the same medieval look.
  • Join the Kaldmarch Discord from the top of any page, the foot of the site or any of our emails.
  • Applying for the closed beta ends on a receipt of your place on the roll, with Discord as the way to pass the wait.
  • Forms now say exactly what is wrong under each field before anything is sent.
  • The website loads faster: lighter pictures and films, with nothing appearing late as you scroll.
  • The Royal Seals page is now the Treasury, and counts Royal Seals instead of points.

Version 0.16.1

Version 0.16.1 ·

Event honours read better.

Version 0.16.0

Version 0.16.0 ·

Event honours get their own place.

  • The Craft tab is just the forge again.

Version 0.15.1 ·

A small maintenance release.

Faster building, training and mines, plus a calmer look.

  • Buildings go up faster: a level that took 20 minutes now takes 14.
  • Troops train faster in every barracks, stable and workshop.
  • Mines produce about 70% more resources an hour.
  • Demolitions are quicker too.
  • The Treasury popup opens its purchase and gift questions properly again.

  • New artwork for awards and buildings, and a clearer message when every building is at its highest level.

Version 0.14.0

Version 0.14.0 ·

Armies march twice as fast.

  • Troops now cross a field in half the time: a spearman takes 18 minutes, a noble 35. Commands already on the road keep their arrival times.

Version 0.13.0

Version 0.13.0 ·

What changed in this release.

  • Quests are reborn as the Court of the March: stages, milestones, tribe quests and illustrated rewards.
  • A new village menu with painted action plates, plus hover cards and a clearer context menu on the map.
  • The account manager builds in your chosen order and tells you what blocks a construction.
  • Autumn and Halloween seasons for the village scene, with lit nights and harvest props.
  • Reports, conversations and tribe screens rebuilt on the new design system, with smoother tables and tabs.
  • Event and chest purchases ask for confirmation in a titled dialog.
  • The settings workshop is retired; the script library stays in Settings.

Richer building rewards

Version 0.12.0 ·

Every building level now pays a fairer share of what it cost, and the realm's news reaches Discord.

  • Building rewards grow from the first levels: each new level pays a quarter of its cost in wood, clay and iron, at least 50 of each.
  • The guided quest no longer sends you back to the Smithy while the unit it needs is already being researched.
  • Buying event materials, recipes or the Event Pass, crafting a recipe and unlocking a daily chest now ask clearly what you buy, what it costs and what follows.
  • Each new version is announced in the Discord playtest news channel, with these notes and a link here.

Small fixes

Version 0.11.1 ·

A few touches to the village view.

  • The farm's wheat grows from level 10, and a grown farm's top-right field is ploughed like the others.

A clearer village page and faster commands

Version 0.11.0 ·

Village profiles, commands and incoming attacks are easier to read and act on.

  • Every village has a new page with Overview, Commands, Reports and Defence tabs, a Send troops button and a More menu for everything else. It shows the village's design, its tribe's level and who has reserved it.
  • Command details open over the page instead of on a new one, with the origin and target first and the Muster Ground one click away. You can rename or cancel the command there.
  • The incoming attacks counter in the header pulses red and opens your Incomings already filtered to attacks.
  • Asking for support is quicker: tick the attacks, update the text and copy a ready message for your tribe's forum or a letter.
  • In the Muster Ground, pick targets from your favourites, your own villages, recent targets or reserved villages, and fill a template with one button next to it.
  • Messages that confirm an action now have a title, stay for five seconds and appear in the bottom-left corner. When something goes wrong, a clear page explains what happened and takes you back to the game.
  • Fixes: the relic Trade tab opens again, and troops carrying loot no longer lose a resource to rounding.

Steadier payment checks

Version 0.10.1 ·

Behind the scenes, confirmations for card payments now reach the game on the right address.

  • Every update now also checks that the game can receive payment confirmations from Stripe, so Royal Seals purchases are credited reliably once card payments open to everyone.

Frames, titles and Royal Seals

Version 0.10.0 ·

Make your name stand out, and buy Royal Seals securely by card.

  • Avatar frames and player titles are here. Pick yours in the new Appearance tab of your profile; they show next to your name in profiles, rankings and the podium, and rare ones glow.
  • Buy Royal Seals by card through Stripe, with a new Royal Seals page on the website. Seals arrive within moments of paying, and a daily limit protects your account.
  • Redeem codes can now give frames, titles, Royal Seals, Farm Assistant time and resource packs, with a letter telling you what you received. Everything you redeem appears in your Treasury history.
  • Rankings show frames and titles, with gold, silver and bronze podiums and crowns for players and for tribes, and a clearer Dominance screen that shows how close a world is to being won.
  • Notifications for queues, reports and rewards have a new look, and the Treasury gains filters and pages for its features and cosmetics.

Steadier updates

Version 0.9.3 ·

Behind the scenes, every update is now checked before and after it reaches you.

  • Each update is tested on the website and in the game before it ships, and checked live right after, so new pages and fixes arrive working.

Fresh pictures after every update

Version 0.9.2 ·

New pictures and icons reach you as soon as a version is out.

  • The website's pictures and music, and the game's images and icons, show their newest version right after an update instead of an older copy kept by your browser or the network.

The ideas board opens on the website

Version 0.9.1 ·

The Feedback and Roadmap pages on kaldmarch.com open as they should.

  • kaldmarch.com/feedback, each idea's page and kaldmarch.com/roadmap open instead of showing a page that was not found.

The ideas board on the website

Version 0.9.0 ·

The Feedback board now lives on kaldmarch.com too, shared with every world, and its discussions can be answered and reacted to.

  • Read the ideas and the roadmap at kaldmarch.com/feedback and kaldmarch.com/roadmap, without signing in.
  • Signed in, share an idea, vote and comment from the website as your player; it is the same board you see in the game.
  • One board for every world: ideas from all worlds are read, voted on and discussed together.
  • Answer a comment and react to it with an emoji, on the website and in the game.
  • Long lists of ideas, comments and news load more as you scroll, and replies stay folded until you open them.

Entering the realm with a popup blocker

Version 0.8.2 ·

Enter the realm works for players who use a popup blocker.

  • Enter the realm takes you into the game even when your browser runs a popup blocker.

Entering the realm works again

Version 0.8.1 ·

The Enter the realm button takes you into the game again.

  • Entering the realm from the home page or from the realm page works again in every browser.

Feedback, ideas and surveys in one place

Version 0.8.0 ·

A new Feedback button gathers your tickets, the ideas board and the surveys, and you can report what you see right from the page.

  • A Feedback button at the top right of the game opens your tickets, the ideas board, surveys, the roadmap and the changelog, with a badge for what is waiting for you.
  • Open a ticket for what it is about; the team answers every new ticket right away, and you follow the conversation like your messages.
  • Share an idea, upvote or downvote the ones you read, comment, and see them move from the roadmap to the changelog when they ship.
  • Surveys moved here from Settings: answer the open ones and read how players answered the past ones.
  • Report a private message, a forum post, a profile text or a village name from the page itself; the report arrives with exactly what you saw.
  • Every action on a player profile and on a village has an icon, and a player can now be reported from their profile.
  • A tribe's Manage map markings opens the same window as a village, so you can put a tribe in a colour group.

Smarter flag trading and a tidier overview

Version 0.7.0 ·

Flags can be traded across levels in any quantity, assigning them to many villages is quick, and the lists and report previews are easier to read.

  • Trade any flag for any other, of any level or type, and set how many of each you give and ask for.
  • The trade list is one table of your tribe's offers and your own, with filters, sorting and pages.
  • Mass assignment shows your flags on the same board as the Overview, with the villages in a sortable table you can search, filter by group and page through.
  • Take a flag off a village straight from the Research overview, and see its columns balanced.
  • The flag log and the world overview are paged and sortable, and the construction flag has its own banner at every quality.
  • A report's hover preview now looks like the report itself, for every kind of report.
  • Quests, items and tabs show their counts in a clearer badge, and the overview filters and group lists work with several choices at once.

A new home for your tribe

Version 0.6.0 ·

The tribe screens are rebuilt from the ground up, rankings are easier to read, and the game answers faster.

  • The tribe forum is easier to follow: a new-posts box, page sizes, quick thread tools and forum administration in one place.
  • Recruitment, members and diplomacy get sortable tables, quick invites and tribe suggestions while you type.
  • The attack planner is on by default, with a summary, a log, sharing with allied tribes and reservations added from a window.
  • Tribe wars show their score and statistics as clear cards and tables you can filter and sort.
  • Your tribe's level now sits next to its name, and the Forum and Recruitment tabs show a dot when something is waiting for you.
  • Rankings use the same easy tables, with 15 rows a page and a field to choose how many.
  • Quest arrows now find a building in the village list when its picture is not shown yet.
  • Pages load faster and the game checks for updates once instead of three times.

The first public build

Version 0.5.0 ·

The Kaldmarch portal and its first world are open. Here is what you can do.

  • Build, recruit and march with the account manager, a market, mail, and a rally point with a battle simulator and scavenging.
  • Flags and relics add bonuses to your holdings, and a daily login bonus rewards you for coming back.
  • Tribes get a forum with polls, forum administration, diplomacy and war screens.
  • A guided quest line walks new players through their first steps.
  • Safer accounts: a bot check on sign-up, password changes by emailed link, and sessions that expire when left idle.
  • The site loads faster, can be added to a phone’s home screen, and shows its pages in lighter image formats.
